St. Finbar
Patron of Cork, Diocese of Cork
550 - 620
He was the son of an artisan and a lady of the Irish royal court. Born in Connaught, Ireland, and baptized Lochan, he was educated at Kilmacahil, Kilkenny, where the monks named him Fionnbharr (white head) because of his light hair; he is also known as Bairre and Barr. He went on pilgrimage to Rome with some of the monks, visiting St. David in Wales on the way back. Supposedly, on another visit to Rome the Pope wanted to consecrate him a bishop but was deterred by a vision, notifying the pope that God had reserved that honor to Himself, and Finbar was consecrated from heaven and then returned to Ireland. At any rate, he may have preached in Scotland, definitely did in southern Ireland, lived as a hermit on a small island at Lough Eiroe, and then, on the river Lee, founded a monastery that developed into the city of Cork, of which he was the first bishop. His monastery became famous in southern Ireland and attracted numerous disciples. Many extravagant miracles are attributed to him, and supposedly, the sun did not set for two weeks after he died at Cloyne about the year 633. His feast day is September 25th.

St. Finbar, Please pray for me to bear all my responsibilities with charity and forbearance..
St. Finbar, I thank you for being an instrument of God's love and mission. Through you and all the saints, the existence of our Almighty God is revealed by His manifestations of miracles and impossible occurences that no human being could perform. Please intercede that our world will be peaceful, God-fearing and united. Also please, pray for me to Jesus that my present concerns are answered in a way that is best for me. Amen.
Saint finbar i belive in you great saint god bless you
I pray 2 you with all my faith asking for your help please help me and my family
Amen
Dear St Finbar please help me to be strong and brave through out my life and to love and accept everyone
a saintly life, can it be lived in our present world today
I have just learnt that my Great Grandfather Daniel O'Reardon was born in the parish of St Fian Barr in Cork, Co Cork, Ireland. At the age of 17 in 1867 he join the British Army the 60th Rifles (later becoming The Kings Royal Rifles) in Cork and served with the Army for 30 years. During which time he was on active duties in India, Afghanistan and South Africa. He was promoted to a Colour Serjeant and after leaving the Army become a Serjeant Instructor of Musketry for the Reserves in Blaenavon South Wales, UK. were he died in 1912.
Dear St. Finbar, Please pray for me since I am passing through a tough time in my life, since the intercession of a saint is most pleasing to the Lord!
Saint Finbar, Cork was home to my Grandparents. May my prayers fly to your aid as yours do to mine, in a world where we all have needs every moment.
To the editor: the story of Saint Finbar says his name means "White head" for his famous fair hair, but the artwork on this page about him shows him in Irish Setter red hair, by mistake. Please fix.
St. Finbar, please pray for me and intercede for my needs. Thank you.
Saint Finbar a very humble request to pray for my financial problems as I am under heavy debt right now. Please pray for me especially on 27th September 2011 as I am appearing for my US visa. I wish to go Abroad if its the will of God. I have many problems in life and according to my limited thinking, I think I can over come my financial problems at least if I work Abroad as I can be paid more as compared to what I am getting at present. Rest I leave in Thy Holy Hands of Jesus Christ, Who knows better what is and what is not good for me. Praise the Lord. Amen.
St. Finbar, how unique were the gifts and blessings God bestowed on you: to be consecrated bishop from Heaven, to have the sun up in the sky, during the night for 2 weeks after your death. I am intrigued and fascinated by this. Truly, how great God is and how abundantly He responds to those who love Him! May every breath I take, my very being worship God. I desire to join the angels and saints in worshipping the Almighty. Holy is His name. Dear St. Finbar, pray for me that, despite doubts and obstacles, I'll have the courage to do what is right. Give the inspiration of the moment, when the Holy Spirit gives me ideas. Help me to take action. In my experience, I notice that the doubts that arise are merely the temptation to be afraid and inactive. God has blessed me abundantly too. I praise His Holy name. I offer my "Pakistan fund-raising" effort to you. Give success to the work of my hands. Please ensure that I get a letter of acknowledgement when the money is received in the right hands. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
Dear St. Finbar,
Help me to lead a virtuous life pleasing to God, and also to serve others with zeal and dedication! Thank You!
Saint Finbar, you are a true hero. Pray for us all now and in the afterlife, help us see the wrongs, and the rights in our life, help us be the true people that we are supposed to be, and help us foresee the mistakes that we will make in the future, so we can purify our soul even more so we will be truly ready to enter the kingdom of the lord: PRAISE BE TO GOD!
Saint Finbar pray for us all; pray for those who read these prayers; pray for those who judge these prayers, both here and in Heaven, Amen
Plz tell me more.
