Santos Cleto y Donaciano fueron obispos que vivieron en el siglo V. Cleto fue quemado vivo, mientras que Donaciano murio en el desierto deportado por el rey de los vandalos, Hunerico.

REDACCIoN CENTRAL (ACI Prensa) - Los vandalos fueron un pueblo germano de Europa central. Su lengua pertenece a la rama germanica oriental que habitaban en las actuales Alemania y Polonia.
En el ano 484, el rey Humerico ordeno que todas las iglesias cristianas del africa fueran clausuradas y confiscados los bienes del clero para entregarlos al pueblo. Por mandato real, congregaron a los obispos en el palacio, despues los condujeron lejos de la ciudad y les ordenaron a que marcharan solos hacia el destierro.
Ante tal injusticia, Donaciano y otros cuatro obispos de la provincia de Bisaseno, reunieron a numerosos cristianos para protestar frente a las puertas de la ciudad; el rey Humerico furioso por la revuelta, ordeno a sus soldados a matar y "aplastar" a quienes protestaban.
Donaciano y los cuatro obispos fueron brutalmente golpeados y se les condujo al desierto, donde quedaron abandonados para morir de hambre y sed.
San Cleto, Obispo de la Leptis Menor, considerado "un hombre celoso y muy sabio," y que se habĂa ganado la enemistad de Humerico por su energica oposicion al arrianismo, tambien fue encerrado en un calabozo estrecho, oscuro y pestilente, del cual lo sacaron al cabo de dos meses para quemarlo vivo.
