Catholic Online is pleased to announce that it will soon support the launch of a sister site to raise awareness and activism for the plight of persecuted Christians worldwide. The website is scheduled for launch on 9-11-2014, the anniversary of the infamous terrorist attacks against the United States that were largely intended to kill Christians.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Frightening Rise Of Christian Persecution. Christian persecution is flourishing today, more so than it has ever done in history. Even under the angry rule of Roman emperors, the situation was better for many Christians. Attacked by militant religious fanatics, militant atheists and secularists, Christians face a suppression of their beliefs and practices, as well as a variety of other sufferings including death.

Within the past two months, Christians living in Iraq and Syria have felt the evil of the Islamic State terrorists who have killed thousands of people for the crime of faith. Included in piles of bodies gathered for disposal are women and children, even babies.

In the past year, the world saw a Catholic woman condemned to hanging in Sudan for the crime of apostasy, despite the fact she was raised Catholic.

Closer to home, Christians face assault in other ways. Businesses owners are being compelled to violate their own religious conscience by having to choose between supporting "healthcare" plans that support abortion and contraception and closing altogether. A pincer attack between those favoring the homosexual agenda and those representing the forces of atheism is squeezing Christianity out of the public realm and back into the shadows.

Politicians are participating too as talk grows of taxing churches out of the donations they receive from their congregations to serve their communities.

To merely be a Christian is again becoming a dangerous occupation. From a student suspended for saying "bless you" to a bank teller fired for demanding a customer refrain from taking God's name in vain, there's plenty of persecution right in the United States. Overseas, corrupt political practices, malevolent laws and acts of terrorism threaten millions of Christians.

The website will tell the truth of Christian persecution and it will not hold back. The content will often be graphic and only for mature readers. This is because Christian persecution has an ugly side, a gruesome dimension which each of us has the right to see for ourselves, if we choose.

Christians have long played a gentle game with the world, showing tolerance for diverse opinions and charity in the face of grim circumstances. However, as you will soon witness, that kindness isn't being repaid. For their goodness, Christians are being punished and killed in the most heinous atrocities documented in decades.
